Required materials:

  • old glasses and empty glass bottles
  • Crepe ribbon
  • golden spray paint, suitable for glass
  • Cardboard or newspaper for laying down
  • for the fully laid table: dishes, tablecloth and flowers according to Gusto

1. Glue with crepe tape

First, all areas that should not get any color are covered with the crepe ribbon. For example, a modern block design can be designed by spraying only the lower half of the glasses or bottles with a golden color. You have to press the crepe ribbon carefully so that a clean color edge is created later.

After gluing, the glass surfaces should be freed from fingerprints again with a cloth – so that the paint holds well, the surface must be dry and free of grease.

2. Lacquer glass

In the next step, the glasses and bottles are sprayed with the paint. Spray paint is best suited to paint glass, as it can achieve a smooth color area and no brushstrokes can be seen in the lacquer later.

Before you reach for the spray paint, it is best to place or place the bottles on some newsprint or cardboard (. It is only recommended for very quick drying varnish ). If possible, work outside or at least with the window open. Let the bottles and glasses dry while standing.

3. Decorate the table

After the paint has dried, you can start decorating the table with the new gold pieces. Bottles are very suitable, for example, as candle holders or vases – but cut a good figure even without content.

The gold-painted bottles and glasses can of course be staged in any decorative style, but a combination with black, dark blue or emerald green looks particularly elegant. Green accents can also be set well with small potted plants – for example succulents –; Autumn flowers bring some color into play.
